iNOVA4Health FCT Research Unit is seeking a highly qualified and motivated assistant researcher with specialized knowledge in Molecular Mechanisms of Obesity and related comorbidities. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research in the field of Obesity and will also contribute to teaching activities within iNOVA4Health at the graduate level. The researcher will contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and the development of innovative solutions in the field.Key Responsibilities:1) Innovative Research: Conduct research in the field of in Molecular Mechanisms of Obesity and related comorbidities.2) Education and Training Programs: Developing education and training programs on the specific areas of physiology, and molecular mechanisms of obesity.3) Collaborative Research: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including interdisciplinary groups, to advance research projects. Participate in joint ventures that bridge the gap between basic science and translational medicine.4) Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyse experimental data using statistical methods. Prepare and present research findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences. Contribute to the writing of research papers for publication in high impact peer-reviewed journals.5) Mentorship and Supervision: Mentor and supervise junior researchers and students providing guidance on research projects and assisting with their academic and professional development.6) Funding: Contribute to the development of research proposals and funding applications.Scientific Profile:1) Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences or a related field.2) Demonstrated track record and international experience.3) Established experience in pre and post graduate teaching.4) Extensive Knowledge in Key Biological Areas, with comprehensive understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying ageing, neurodegenerative diseases, metabolic diseases, and extracellular vesicles.5) Specialization in Obesity Research, with knowledge of animal models of obesity, with a special focus on the role of the small intestine in the development of obesity.6) Demonstrated experience in extracellular vesicles, including isolation, characterization, and functional analysis in the context of obesity and related metabolic disorders.7) Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals.8) Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.Rationale for Hiring:The need for this position arises from the increasing importance of uncovering new therapeutic approaches to currently untreatable human diseases. Call for applications
