Job Description:Highly motivated and experienced Assistant Researcher with a strong background in biotechnology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, physics or related scientific field. This role involves leading innovative research projects in interdisciplinary fields of technology with chemistry, biology, plant science and biomedicine towards the development of new applications.Key Responsibilities: 1) Design and conduct cutting-edge research aiming the development of new technology solutions; 2) Develop and apply advanced tools for bioprocess understanding, monitoring, and upscaling. 3) Lead and manage research projects, including securing funding, project planning, execution, and dissemination of results. 4) Mentor and supervise PhD and Master students, and postdoctoral researchers fostering a productive and inclusive lab environment. 5) Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within and outside the institution. 6) Contribute to the scientific community through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, conference organization and participation in scientific committees. 7) Teach at a postgraduate level (master and PhD); 8) Actively participate in citizen science and science outreach activities. Scientific Profile Required:1) PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related field; 2) Experience as independent group leader; 3) Good track record of publications in international journals, namely as first author/corresponding author; 4) Demonstrated ability to secure national and international competitive research funding; 5) Strong leadership, mentorship, and collaborative skills; 6) Excellent communication and organizational abilities; 7) National and international teaching experience; 8) Fluency in English and Portuguese (spoken and written). Rationale for Hiring:The hiring of an Assistant Researcher with a specialized focus on Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related field, aims increasing the collaboration potential with other areas of research at ITQB NOVA. The candidate´s combination of skills should enable breakthrough solutions, integrating knowledge with other labs from ITQB NOVA. The selection of a candidate with a proven track record in securing funding and leading research projects will ensure the sustainability and growth of our research initiatives. This role is essential for driving forward our mission to contribute to global health security, thus reducing poverty and inequalities.

- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
