O projeto assenta na implementação de dois grandes programas ou alianças: o “STEAM UTAD” e o “ALV UTAD”, dando resposta às novas necessidades do mercado de trabalho e aos novos desafios presentes na região e no próprio país. UTAD - Skills for Life’ é uma aposta conjunta para a promoção da atualização e reconversão de competências da população ativa, em particular de nível superior no domínio das STEAM, reforçando a necessidade da aprendizagem continua ao longo da vida, e contribuindo, assim, para colmatar a crescente complexidade dos desafios enfrentados pelos profissionais, pela administração pública e pelas diferentes empresas. Existe uma grande preocupação de incentivar o ingresso no ensino superior de jovens e adultos provenientes de territórios desfavorecidos, como também do sexo feminino nas áreas STEM, combatendo, assim, a tendência presente nas taxas de participação de raparigas e mulheres no domínio das TIC.
Beneficiaries
The two types are::
- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.

Beneficiaries representing public entities implement their project by signing one or more contracts with suppliers for goods or services through public procurement procedures.
