The acquisitions will directly contribute to REMIT’s 2025-2029 strategic plan by strengthening the Digital Technologies and Robotics Lab and expanding the unit’s capacity for applied research on climate change, cultural heritage, and sustainable tourism. By enabling advanced experimentation, immersive visualization, and high-impact knowledge dissemination, these resources directly support REMIT’s core axes of s trengthening the Team, Knowledge Production and Diffusion, Internationalization, and Societal Involvement . Drones and 3D scanning equipment will enable high-resolution mapping, surface monitoring, and environmental observation of heritage sites and landscapes. These tools support research on climate impacts, site preservation, and sustainable management practices, providing critical data for both theoretical and applied studies. Robotics and AI tools will expand REMIT’s capacity for experimental research in human–technology interaction, environmental monitoring, and autonomous systems, strengthening the interdisciplinary approach of the DTIO group. High-performance computing, storage infrastructure, and visualization tools will allow intensive processing of LiDAR point clouds, photogrammetric data, and 3D models, supporting advanced visualization and immersive analysis. These capabilities facilitate high-impact dissemination of research results to stakeholders, policymakers, and the public, enhancing knowledge transfer and REMIT’s visibility. Environmental monitoring tools will provide continuous data collection for climate-related studies, enabling quantitative assessment of environmental factors affecting heritage sites and tourism ecosystems.??????? Additive manufacturing and prototyping tools facilitate the development of physical models, replicas, and experimental setups, bridging the gap between digital analysis and tangible applications in heritage
Beneficiaries
The two types are::
- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
Final evaluation score
The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.
