Decentralization of powers

Proximity to populations is essential for solving people's real problems on a daily basis. Knowing the needs and having the ability to intervene in their resolution in an agile and uncomplicated way is one of the most important missions of the Municipalities.

For this, it is necessary that each Municipality has at its disposal not only the necessary resources but also the institutional attribution of the respective responsibilities. In light of the current model of decentralization of powers from the Central Administration to the Municipalities, each of the Municipalities entrusted with providing services to citizens in a very wide range of fields.

Citizen Assistance

The municipality is entrusted with setting up and managing Lojas do Cidadão, Espaços Cidadão (the official designations given to citizen service centres), managing emigrant support offices and local migrant integration support centres, albeit in strict coordination with the state services and bodies in charge of these departments.
