The integrated R&D project STRIDE is centered on research excellence in the fields of expertise of SYSTEC (https://systec.fe.up.pt) and CMUP (https://cmup.fc.up.pt/) organized to enable the rapid transition of its R&D results to disruptive innovations that promote the smart specialization agenda of the North region of Portugal. Inspired in Systems Process Engineering methodologies applied to the general Challenge-Research-Innovation life cycle, the approach is instanced along pertinent three vectors of the four top priority ones of the North Region - Advanced Production Systems, Agriculture, and Mobility and Environment -, as well as Ocean Observation Systems and Health Systems, which, given the specific conditions of our nation – huge oceanic territory and aged population - will also trigger an extremely high impact. The goals of the project will be reached by the following sets of tasks: a) Extraction of scientific and technological objectives from the societal and economic challen
